Redesigning the Paraguay FA's online ecosystem
The Client
The Asociación Paraguaya de Fútbol (APF, Paraguay FA) governs the country’s football landscape and brings together a complex universe: multiple national teams, top-flight and youth league competitions, plus women’s football, futsal, and beach soccer. Its digital presence must simultaneously serve fans, media, technical staff, and clubs, delivering real-time information with an editorial workflow that’s both agile and secure, and an infrastructure ready for massive post-match traffic spikes. The challenge wasn’t “just a website,” but an ecosystem capable of organizing over a decade's worth of content and growing seamlessly with every season.
The Challenge
The previous site had accumulated years of content with complex navigation and inconsistent structures. The editorial team needed granular permissions by team, tournament, or modality; fans expected live statistics and clear navigation; and technology leaders demanded scalability for big-match traffic. We had to solve cross-site search, unify experiences, and raise the bar on UX and performance.
The Solution
Tech stack used:
In Discovery we inventoried 10+ years of news, fixtures, tables, and media; defined the information architecture, key user journeys (live match, fixtures, tables, reports, multimedia), and a component system (match card, ranking, fixture, table, gallery). In Design/Development we implemented a headless CMS and a granular-permissions backend by role/competition/modality. The integration with OPTA was engineered with competition-level feeds and custom UI for real-time tables and stats. On infrastructure, AWS with autoscaling and CDN keeps performance stable during post-match surges. The frontend is mobile-first, optimized for Core Web Vitals and technical SEO.
