The Organization
Rugby reached Uruguay in the 19th Century and the first championship was played in 1950. The Uruguayan Rugby Union (URU) was created in 1951, and had Carlos Cat as its first president, who was a key figure in developing this sport in the country.
The growth of Uruguayan rugby is mostly due to the advent of several institutions across the country, both clubs and schools. This growth has been made evident by Los Teros' 4 Rugby World Cup appearances: Wales 1999, Australia 2003, England 2015 and Japan 2019 - as well as qualifying for the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.
The Project
We created an interactive and dynamic website, where you can find all about Uruguayan Rugby: the amateur circuit, the national teams, clubs and more.
This site includes Social Media integration - in this case, Twitter data is displayed in real time through a custom widget. Other modules include News, Galleries and Video.
The project uses our own CMS Columnis.
